$Jeep Deluxe Patriot Open Trails ~ 26.98 lbs - Here, we have the most durable jogging stroller for the beach you can find. It's pretty affordable but incredibly well-built and easily maneuverable due to all-terrain wheels. On the other hand, it's fairly heavy.

$$ — Chicco TRE Jogging ~ 28.5 lbs - As always, the Chicco model stands out with its advanced engineering, high quality, and fantastic maneuverability. The suspension system provides a smooth ride even on a bumpy road, while a durable frame ensures longevity. Customer service is not really receptive.

Top Wagon Strollers for the Beach

$$Evenflo Pivot Xplore ~ 34.7 lbs - This is one multifunctional double stroller, specifically designed for the beach. It's adapted for numerous terrains and converts into a wagon. But it's not very space-saving and weighs a lot. On the other hand, it's fairly heavy.

$$Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 ~ 42 lbs - If you have two kids with a year or two age gap; this is an excellent stroller wagon for you. It's compatible with infant seats, so you can use it for an infant and a toddler, and it has a pretty functional design. It's very heavy for traveling purposes, though.

The Best Double Strollers for the Beach

$$$BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie ~ 33.1 lbs - BOB gear is the best double jogger stroller you can get on the market. You can use it for an infant with a compatible car seat or a toddler with a 5-point harness. $$$Joovy Zoom X2 Double Jogging Stroller ~ 28.22 lbs - Here we have another fantastic double jogging stroller, lighter and more affordable than BOB but equally efficient and durable. Its super-power are reclining seats, smooth tires, and an easy folding system. It's not car seat compatible, though.

Best Beach Strollers on the Market - Top 8 Picks

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger - The Best Travel-friendly Stroller for the Beach
  • Brand: Baby Trend
  • Price: $
  • Type: Jogging stroller
  • Tires: Bicycle
  • Weight recommendation: 5-50 lbs
  • Weight: 25.5 Pounds

The first stroller we'll review today is this budget-friendly jogging model from Baby Trend.

Jogging strollers are excellent for the beach because they usually include all-terrain wheels and an easily maneuverable design which is perfect for the sandy surface.

As I was reading customer reviews about this model, the thing that first caught my attention was how satisfied they were with the maneuverability.

Most parents claim that this stroller provides a smooth ride and solid turns and even behaves well on uneven terrains. It makes sense because it's equipped with two large pneumatic tires and one smaller swiveling wheel.

Air-filled tires are more shock-absorbing, and they glide smoothly, creating a comfortable ride for your little one.

The next thing I like about it is the foldable design.

If you pull two levers on the sides, the entire construction will fold down in half, and if that's not small enough, you can also remove the wheels. The folding size is not the most compact I've seen, but it fits most trunks.

On the other hand, the basket is huge. You can fit most of your child's beach toys there, a tote bag, and whatnot. It's a pretty durable extra-large basket.

The canopy offers solid coverage too and comes with a mesh peek-a-boo window so you can check your child.

Another reason to buy it is that this Expedition stroller is compatible with Baby Trend infant seats. So, if you have one, you might just create a travel system.

Now, the thing I don't like about it is the overall quality. It's not bad, but you get what you pay for it, and after a while, it wears out, especially the front wheel.

Pros
  • Smooth ride
  • Foldable
  • Extra-large storage basket
  • Compatible with infant car seats
Cons
  • Mediocre quality

Jeep Deluxe Patriot Open Trails - The Best Heavy-Duty Jogging Stroller for the Price
  • Brand: Jeep
  • Price: $
  • Type: Jogging stroller
  • Tires: Pneumatic rubber
  • Weight recommendation: 5-50 lbs
  • Weight: 26.98 lbs.

If you're a fan of Jeep, you will love this Jeep Classic Jogging Stroller. It's another jogging stroller, excelling at everything that the previous model lacks.

It's genuinely heavy-duty, very hard-wearing, and fantastic for athletic parents who often go off road.

The secret is in the air-filled rubber tires that absorb shock and honestly work well on different terrains, from paved roads to mud and grass.

Parents who tested these strollers are genuinely satisfied with the mobility and how it actually performs while jogging.

Also, the frame is very stable and durable. It meets and exceeds ASTM and CPSC standards, and it's compatible with most infant car seats.

Another convenient detail is the foam-covered handlebar that offers a more than comfortable grip.

Does it fold down? Yes, the stroller folds down fairly easily. You pull up the two handles on the sides of the frame, and it folds down.

As for the sun protection, it comes with an extendable sun visor UPF 50+, so it's pretty good. And I'd like to pay tribute to Jeep for the padded seat that's very comfortable and snack trays that come in handy.

However, as much as this is an excellent jogger stroller from the price point and quality, it is fairly heavy and not that travel-friendly.

I see why people may use it on the beach since it's incredibly maneuverable. But, it won't fit every trunk, it weighs a lot, and the storage basket is very small.

Pros
  • Heavy-duty
  • Excellent maneuverability
  • Shock-absorbing
  • Comfy seat
  • Compatible with many infant seats
  • Locking swivel front wheel
Cons
  • Heavy
  • Small storage basket

Graco FastAction Jogger - The Easiest Stroller to Fold
  • Brand: Graco
  • Price: $
  • Type: Jogger stroller
  • Tires: Air-filled rubber
  • Weight recommendation: >50 lbs
  • Weight: 28.9 lbs.

If you thought that the Jeep model was heavy, wait until you hear about this one.

Here we have one ultra-popular jogger stroller from Graco, pretty similar to the two strollers I previously reviewed, but let's see what makes this one exceptional.

Now, what Graco promotes as the best advantage of this model is the one-second-one-hand fold. It's a unique system that allows you to fold the stroller by simply pulling the small strap in the center of the stroller.

I have to say that it is the most convenient folding system I've seen, but it does require you to lift up the stroller, which can be a problem for petite mothers.

At the same time, what parents present as the best feature this model has to offer is mobility. The stroller works great on soft surfaces like mud and grass, so it's a great option for the beach too.

Another detail I love is the enormous basket. But it's not just the size that wowed me, it's very accessible and practical, which I believe most strollers lack.

Look at it, and judge for yourself.

best stroller for beach sand

Now, the canopy offers good coverage, but it seems a bit flimsy, so it's not my favorite thing. But, the seat reclines, and you can attach an infant seat for a travel system mode.

As for the disadvantages, this model is fairly heavy. It does fit some trunks, so it's not undoable to bring it along, yet it is very heavy and kind of bulky.

Pros
  • Great maneuverability
  • Large accessible basket
  • Smooth ride
  • Reclining seat
  • Locking swivel front wheel
Cons
  • Heavy

Chicco TRE Jogging - The Best Quality for the Price
  • Brand: Chicco
  • Price: $$
  • Type: Jogger stroller
  • Tires: Air-filled rubber
  • Weight recommendation: 5-55 lbs
  • Weight: 28.5 Pounds

This Chicco model is slightly above the price range we were at by now, so I wouldn't say it's really a budget model, more like mid-range. However, it stands slightly higher on the scale quality-wise, so it's all pretty balanced.

Now, what first caught my attention when I compared this model to similar strollers is the engineering.

You can always tell how well built and put together Chicco products are. The fabric is stronger; the frame looks sturdier, even the plastic parts are heavy-duty.

Like the previous models, this one is a jogger stroller too, so it has three pneumatic tires. However, this model includes a suspension system, so it's literally made for bumpy terrains, off-road activities, and outdoor time.

The suspension controls the movements and neutralizes the bumps so your baby won't feel a thing.

The next advanced innovation is the handbrake.

It's placed on the handlebar and enables you to reach fast when necessary and control the speed when jogging. Also, the handlebar is covered in foam, and it's adjustable in height.

One thing that bothers me about the budget strollers is the canopy.

It offers nice coverage, but it's very flimsy. That's not the case with this model. It has a sturdy, water-repellent full-size canopy with a see-through window.

It also features a one-hand fold, but it offers three folded modes: self-standing fold, flat-fold, or compact fold. So, although a heavy model, at least it's travel-friendly when it comes to storage and transport.

What moms don't like about this model is the poor customer service. If you happen to break something, they probably won't replace it.

Pros
  • Suspension system
  • Three folded configurations
  • Excellent maneuverability
  • Handbrake
  • Fine quality
Cons
  • Poor customer service

Evenflo Pivot Xplore - The Best Multifunctional Double Stroller
  • Brand: Evenflo
  • Price: $$
  • Type: Stroller wagon
  • Tires: Plastic
  • Weight recommendation: Up to 55 lbs per seat
  • Weight: 34.7 lbs.

If you're looking for a stroller that will wow everybody at the beach, you got it.

This is one multifunctional double stroller that can also be a wagon, specifically designed for the beach and to make your life easier.

This model was designed for all terrains, especially sand and grass. It includes durable, solid plastic wheels that are puncture-free and built to glide smoothly on all surfaces.

Parents testified that these tires are genuinely solid, not hollow, and even went smoothly through gravel.

However, they are not that good for uneven terrains and don't provide a smooth ride like air-filled ones.

Now, this model is fantastic because it is so practical and easy to use.

There's a split canopy so you can cover one child, both of them, or remove it. And it's reversible, giving you more fashion choices.

You can drop down the seat for your child to hop in, which is amazing for independent children, and there's a tray between them so they can have drinks and snacks at hand.

The selling point for many parents was the handle. With a flip of the handle, you can transform the stroller into a wagon and engage in a number of fun games.

I also like that this one has a large storage basket, so we can fit all the things we need on the beach. And it's essentially a great stroller for outdoor activities, even hiking, and off-road trips.

It doesn't fold down to quite a compact size, though, and it is on the heavier side. So if you're planning to bring it along, work out the logistics in advance.

Pros
  • Stroller and wagon
  • Drop-down seats
  • Split canopy
  • Large storage basket
  • All-terrain wheels
Cons
  • Heavy

Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 - The Best Car Seat Compatible Wagon for the Beach
  • Brand: Baby Trend
  • Price: $$
  • Type: Stroller wagon
  • Tires: EVA
  • Weight recommendation: Up to 55 lbs per seat
  • Weight: 42 Pounds

If you need a stroller wagon for your two toddlers or a toddler and a baby, this Baby Trend model might be the right choice.

What I love about it is the car seat compatibility that makes it suitable for infants, but I'm kind of indecisive on the travel-friendly aspect of it.

The wagon includes four large EVA wheels.

They are not air-filled, so the ride won't be as smooth as with bicycle tires; however, they are better for all-terrain use since they are puncture-proof and very durable.

Another fantastic detail is that the seating includes lie-down mats that you can flip back and make extra-thick cushioning for your kids to sit on. But, if you're not using the car seat, you can buckle up your children with 3-point harnesses only, which I am not a big fan of.

There is one central canopy for both kids, but there is also mosquito netting which is super-useful for night strolls by the water.

When you want to convert the stroller into a wagon, simply pull a hideaway handle, and you're good to go. The stroller is converted from a push-mode into a pull-mode.

There's a central tray for your kids' snacks and drinks and side pockets for additional storage space. And there's a tray for you and your valuables.

The fold is not the slimmest there is. Yet, you can remove the wheels and make them work.

On the other hand, weight is the biggest downside of this model. It's too heavy and definitely something you don't want to drag along if you don't have to.

Pros
  • Car seat compatible
  • All-terrain wheels
  • Stroller and wagon
  • Mosquito netting
Cons
  • Very heavy
  • 3-point harnesses

BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie - The Best Double Stroller for Different Terrains
  • Brand: BOB Gear
  • Price: $$$
  • Type: Double stroller
  • Tires: Air-filled tires
  • Weight recommendation: 50 lbs per seat
  • Weight: 33.1 Pounds

When it comes to double strollers, BOB Gear Revolution is an absolute legend.

This is probably the best-selling jogging stroller you will find, and the reason for such high popularity is its flawless design.

Starting from the wheels, this model has all you can wish for.

There are three air-filled tires and a suspension system, so the ride is incredibly smooth on all terrains and even on bumpy roads. Sudden turns won't be a problem, and when you're up for jogging, you can lock the swiveling wheel.

Next, the construction is very durable and not too heavy. At the core of the stroller is a sturdy aluminum frame and, on top, a high-grade canvas with extended canopies.

Now, if you compare the canopies on this model with the previous ones, you'll see that this offers way more coverage and has better structural integrity. And with all the sun at the beach, this is very important.

If you buy a car seat adapter, convert this stroller into a travel system and accommodate your baby from day one.

Other features I appreciate are an adjustable handlebar, a huge storage basket, and ten additional storage pockets.

Now, this is a pretty cumbersome model, but not heavier than the two wagons we reviewed. It does fold down, but you'll need a big trunk to fit it.

best beach stroller wagon
Pros
  • All-terrain wheels
  • Durable
  • Front-wheel locks
  • Smooth ride
  • Extended canopy
  • Extra-large storage basket
Cons
  • Not compact fold

Joovy Zoom X2 Double Jogging Stroller - The Best Beach Double Stroller for the Price
  • Brand: Joovy
  • Price: $$$
  • Type: Double stroller
  • Tires: Air-filled tires
  • Weight recommendation: 50 lbs per seat
  • Weight: 28.22 Pounds

If you want the design and functionalities of the BOB Revolution Flex, but you're not really comfortable with the price, this is your stop.

Now, this Joovy stroller is still in the higher end of the market price-wise, but not as expensive as BOB Revolution Flex, although just as effective.

This is another double jogging stroller with large air-filled tires and a lockable front swiveling wheel. It's built for adventures and off-road activities, yet it provides perfectly smooth rides.

Unlike BOB Revolution Flex, this model is not car seat compatible, however, it includes 5-point harnesses, so it's just as safe as a standard stroller.

I like the design of canopies, which are completely waterproof and very sturdy. You can adjust them independently to create a perfect shade for your child.

Compared to the Bob Revolution Flex, this model is slimmer and lighter. In fact, it was designed to fit through most doorways, making your life easier.

It has an enormous 15 lbs storage basket, so you'll most definitely fit all that you need for the beach and eliminate the need for tote bags and backpacks. And there's a cupholder for your refreshment.

As for the extras, the stroller has reclining seats, an easy one-step folding system, and it comes with a pump for the tires.

I don't like that there's no peek-a-boo window on the canopy, and some customers mentioned it doesn't glide smoothly through fluffy sand.

Pros
  • Good quality
  • Adjustable canopy
  • Waterproof canopy
  • Not too heavy
  • One-step fold
  • Air-filled tires
  • Tire pump
Cons
  • No peek-a-boo window

What Kind of Wheels Does the Beach Stroller Have?

Beach strollers are no different than other strollers on the market.

The one feature that makes them suitable for porous sandy terrain, though, is good wheels.

It's hard to say which tires precisely are the best for sandy terrains, but I'll share parents' experiences with different tires from the least suitable to the most suitable for the sandy terrain.

1. Small Plastic Wheels

Strollers that have small plastic tires, such as umbrella strollers or lightweight traveling strollers, just won't cut it.

Since they are impossible to push, you'll be able to move them by pulling, but it's a struggle.

They get stuck in the sand easily and generally portray awful durability, so you want to avoid them.

2. All-terrain Wheels

Manufacturers refer to a whole spectrum of wheels as all-terrain nowadays. With that in mind, not every all-terrain wheel performs well on beach sand.

Basically, what you want to avoid are thin tires, especially the hollow ones, and opt for the thicker, solid models or bicycle tires.

Also, if the stroller has to swivel wheels, make sure that the swivel wheel locks because swiveling wheels are a nightmare in the sand.

Joggins strollers are an excellent choice here because their wheels are built for the rough terrain, and they naturally perform well on the beach sand.

Notice on the image below how the small wheels dig deep into the sand while larger wheels stay on the surface. That's why you want the wheels at least 16 inches in diameter.

best beach stroller for sand

3. Wide Wagon Wheels

I haven't included any model with such wheels to this list, mainly because wagons of this kind don't have a harness, so I don't find them safe for smaller children.

But yeah, there are wagons with wide thick wheels, specifically made for the beach sand, and they glide effortlessly over the surface, so they are the most suitable for this terrain mobility-wise.

Find the Best Beach Strollers of 2022: Buyer's Guide

1. Canopy

Since you will be spending a day on the beach, you need to make sure the stroller has a full-size canopy.

Choose canopies with UPF 50+ to ensure maximum protection and protect your child from the harmful UV rays.

2. Extra Large Cargo Basket

My philosophy is simple; if I'm bringing a stroller to the beach, I can at least pack things in the basket.

Think about it; you're already loaded with a heavy stroller; if you need to bring tote bags, backpacks, and other things, too, you'll be cluttered.

So, choose models with a lot of storage space.

3. Foldability

best beach stroller for toddler

For traveling purposes, foldability is crucial. Always precheck if the stroller fits your trunk and how compact the fold actually is.

4. Infant Car Seat Compatibility

The standard stroller seat is not adapted for infants.

If you're planning to use baby strollers, make sure they have an infant car seat adapter to enable attachment of the infant car seat.

5. Extra Features

For the extras, it's nice if your all-terrain stroller has an adjustable handlebar because you can adapt it to your height and push conveniently.

A reclining padded seat will contribute immensely to your child's comfort, and a child tray is great for snacks and drinks.

Tips and Tricks for a Paradise Beach Vacation

best beach double stroller
  • Lock the front swivel wheel before you get to the beach sand because it won't work.
  • Choose stroller wagons because it's much easier to pull than push a stroller on the beach sand.
  • Choose strollers with wider wheels because they don't get stuck in the sand easily.
  • Choose models with an adjustable handlebar so you can find the best grip and push conveniently.

Baby Beach Essentials

If you're bringing your little to the beach, it's an absolute necessity to bring a large umbrella.

I cannot emphasize how integral it is to protect your baby from harmful UV rays.

It is true that babies need sunlight to develop vitamin D, but because of global warming, the sun is way more harmful than before, so you need to protect your little one.

With that in mind, an SPF is another essential to bring along. It should have as high a protective factor as possible and don't forget to reapply to make sure your baby is safe even after you put them in the water.

One cool trick I've learned from another mom is bringing a king-size bedsheet. It's incredibly practical, and you can fix them in place with bags, so it presents a perfect playground for your baby.

Finally, check this mom's super detailed video, with a lot of useful hacks on how to have a perfect beach time with your baby.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can strollers be used on the beach?

Yes, strollers can be used on the beach, but how easily depends on a variety of factors. The heavier the stroller is, the harder it's going to be to use it on the porous beach sand.

Also, different types of wheels will behave differently in the sand.

In theory, you can use all types of strollers on the beach, but all-terrain strollers will be the easiest to use.

best stroller for beach vacation

Does BOB stroller go on sand?

Since BOB stroller is an all-terrain stroller, you can use it anywhere you'd like, including the sand.

BOB strollers have a triangular chassis and three big tires filled with air which makes them great for sand and also helps every stroll be smoother.

The other thing that makes it easy to use on sand is good suspension and a locking front swivel front wheel, which is going to prove very useful when it comes to deeper sand.

So YES, BOB strollers not only go on the sand, but they're a great choice for sand.

What wagon is good for the beach?

Wagons with wider, thicker tires are better for the beach but don't forget the safety features.

Many stroller wagons that are specifically made for the beach don't have a harness or any restraint system, so they are not entirely safe to use for small kids.

My favorite beach wagons are Evenflo Pivot Xplore and Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1.

When can you take a baby to the beach?

best beach jogging stroller

You should definitely wait a couple of months before you take your baby to the beach for the first time.

Especially because some sunscreens cannot be used on babies under six months, so you'll need to do everything to protect your baby from the UV rays naturally, which can be a hard task.

My Favorite Beach Stroller

Of all the models I reviewed today, BOB Gear Revolution Flex is the best choice for all terrains.

It's durable, practical and multifunctional. With this purchase, you'll have a stroller for the beach, jogging, and everyday use.

Conclusion

Stay focused on what matters and choose the best for your baby.
