Britax Boulevard Clicktight: In-depth Review

The Britax Boulevard ClickTight is a top convertible seat sold at a very reasonable price but delivers outstanding quality.

So, what to expect from this car seat from Britax?

1. Ease of Installation

The ease of installation is the second thing, right after safety, that parents care most about when looking for a car seat for their kid.

Good news! The big selling point to this product is the easy-to-install feature, which is highly appreciated by busy parents that are often in a rush and have no time to adjust the seat again and again.

This particular feature of this product is surprisingly straightforward and takes very little time. It can be done in literally minutes!

All you need to do is to make a thread between the seat belts of your car and the car seat to secure it.

There are two loops in the car seats, so you will need to repeat the action two times, but trust me, it takes very little time.

Can it get any better? Yes!

For some car seats, it’s hard to tell whether they have been properly secured or not. The same problem won’t happen with the Britax Boulevard ClickTight!

The ClickTight installation lets you know when the seat has been fully secured by making a little click sound.

This integrated feature can be seen in some latest car seat models on the market.

But if you just trace things back a little bit, you will find out that ClickTight is the first of its class ever to have this feature, which is also the reason why this car seat is highly trusted among consumers.

2. Performance

The design allows you to use the seat in two main configurations: rear-facing and forward-facing (front-facing).

Depending on the age and how much your kid weighs, choose a suitable adjustment. For example, you should use rear-facing for kids weighing less than 40 lbs, and front-facing for those weighing between 20 and 65 lbs.

Aside from that, the Boulevard width is quite narrow at around 18 inches. The width is just enough to fit perfectly in your car, even for those with limited space, yet still able to bring utmost comfort for your kid on long hour trips.

As they get older, they can still sit comfortably in this seat thanks to these levels of adjustment. The ease of adjustability is one of the big selling points to make this convertible car seat the top pick of many parents out there.

So, what does Britax have to offer regarding safety?

Worst-case scenario, you get into a crash. Now, the V-shaped tether acts as a shield to reduce seat rotation and forward movement. The car seat later absorbs energy using what’s called SafeCell technology.

To put it simply, the base contains a certain amount of red plastic SafeCell pieces that will crumble to make sure your child remains unharmed when coming into contact with strong impacts.

Is that all? No!

There is a five-point harness to make sure your little one is safe and sound in the seat. Plus, since there are 14 levels of harness and buckle heights, you can freely adjust a suitable preset for the utmost comfort of your kid as he/she grows bigger.

The components included for extra safety also add more weight to the seat, not to mention if you put on the anti-rebound bar (optional), the seat gains roughly 1 lb in the rear-facing setting only.

You might have some questions regarding that ‘optional’ phrase. You see, the anti-rebound bar is there to keep your kid steady in the seat in case a collision happens, but it doesn’t come with the Boulevard model, so you will have to make an additional purchase for it (if you want).

Britax has a similar model to the one we are discussing here - the Boulevard ClickTight ARB (anti-rebound bar).

However, purchasing the bar separately to add on the Boulevard later is more budget-friendly than buying the Boulevard ClickTight ARB model, which is what many parents choose to do.

The only significant downside to this car seat is the weight. The Boulevard weighs around 29 lbs - definitely not the lightest seat on the market.

In Closing

Overall, the Britax Boulevard ClickTight is a decently made car seat with premium features found in higher-end car seats.

We’re not saying the Boulevard is the cheapest, but it surely will not break your bank if you decide to purchase it. It is a worthwhile investment that you’re making; you have our word on it.
