This UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is an incredible double umbrella stroller that retails for an affordable price

It is one of the unique designs for parents with two kids far apart in age or even twins!

A Quick Overview of the UPPAbaby G Link 2

Source: UPPAbaby.com

As a genuine admirer of the UPPAbaby brand, I just knew I had to test out the G Link 2 as soon as it came out on the market!

Moms and dads with twins or toddlers close in age will know the struggles of finding that perfect stroller.

You know, the one that can be independently adjusted with a tall handlebar and comfortable seats?

Once my UPPAbaby G link 2 arrived, I felt like I hit the jackpot!

It has the perfect slim design that easily fits through narrow doorways, shops, aisles, and busy streets!

This is not what I expected from the double umbrella stroller since all the ones I owned before were robust and not fitted for a city mom!

We often spend our free time visiting amusement parks and zoos, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that this umbrella stroller was Disney-approved!

Some of you may know that the G Link is modeled after the G-Luxe, a single stroller with fantastic quality!

The designs are not that different apart from the fact that the G-Link is a double stroller and will fit better for a growing family.

But, if you have a single toddler, the logical choice would be the G-Luxe stroller!

When searching through Amazon, make sure you click on the suitable model and not mistake it for the old version.

The previous version is slightly heavier by 2.5 pounds and has a broader design. Add the toddler weight to that, and you got yourself a stiff back day later!

1. How Does the UPPAbaby G-Link Perform in Everyday Use?

I could not be more pleased when it comes to the everyday use of this UPPAbaby G Link 2 double umbrella stroller!

The G-Link 2 has a lightweight aluminum frame which results in only 22 pounds of stroller weight!

But, of course, things don't get any lighter from there as you have to count in the toddler and storage bag weight!

Nonetheless, it's still relatively more straightforward to operate than most double strollers on the market!

It indeed makes pursuing a breeze across flat surfaces, but it's not suitable for bumpy roads. But, more on that later.

As far as public transportation goes, I rode the bus two or three times since I got this G Link 2 stroller, and I have to say I was pleased with how it folds down!

Like I said earlier, the narrow, lightweight aluminum frame design is perfect for narrow doorways, so this one will perform well if you have to get on the bus quickly.

However, I prefer folding it thoroughly before going in as it has a quick fold mechanism that folds down in seconds!

2. Foldability

Ah, the foldability! I am so grateful for this feature!

Not only does the stroller fold in seconds, but it will save you a lot of inches when it's time for storage!

Between the two seats, you will find a hand folding trigger.

Once you pop it down, the stroller will fold by itself within a few seconds-no foot action required. The only step you have to do is lock it in place, and voila!

However, I do have a bone to pick with the folding mechanism.

I was disappointed when I found that this one does not have a self-stand once folded, unlike the previous model!

This is a significant downside for me when folding a stroller in public, so I am obligated to put it on the ground and get the fabric dirty.

Luckily, the material is easy to clean and maintain, so only wipe it over with a clean cloth once you get the chance.

3. Storage

The storage basket is pretty basic, in my opinion. It's spacious but does not hold a lot of capacity (only 10 pounds).

This can be a downside for some moms and dads of two, as you bring more essentials with two kids in one stroller.

However, I have to add that it's still more spacious than the Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller, which fits only 8 lbs of items.

As these two umbrella strollers are often compared, I give the UPPAbaby G Link an extra point for the storage basket capacity!

One of the features that make this umbrella stroller unique is the hidden pockets behind the canopy! Once you lift the magnetic shield, you will find pockets on the back of the canopies.

As they close completely, the back of the canopies are perfect for necessities you need nearby such as your phone, keys, or an extra snack.

I find that they are perfect for rainy days since they fully protect your belongings. With the purchase, you will get one cup holder you can attach pretty much anywhere!

This is so convenient since the holder is not fixed to certain positions, and you can customize the placing how you like it.

I purchased an additional cup holder, so each of my toddlers has a separate storage for their beverage.

4. Maneuverability

Here is a tricky one.

Most double strollers would have two sets of wheels with an additional wheel placed between the front set.

In this way, the total weight is evenly distributed, and you won't be affected by the added toddler weight afterward.

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 features only two sets of wheels which totals out in four.

This will be fine at first, but you will notice the lack of maneuverability as your kids get older.

Although the designer here saved you extra wheel weight, you can cross out the easy maneuverability once your kids get closer to 55 lbs weight capacity.

If you want a double stroller with an extra pair of wheels, my top choices would be the JOOVY Twin Groove Ultralight or the Jeep PowerGlyde Plus Side x Side Double Stroller.

But, as this G-Link 2 stroller lacks wheel suspension, then you can try these alternatives: Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight Graphite, Maclaren Twin Triumph.

5. Who Is This Double Umbrella Stroller Suitable for?

Source: UPPAbaby.com

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 double stroller is perfect for newborns from 3 months until they are 55 lbs each!

Therefore, the total child capacity on these seats is 110 pounds, perfect for such a lightweight double stroller.

I love that both of these seats are spacious and comfortable for my children!

They even include a five-point harness that is adjustable and made from soft materials that do not irritate their skin.

The canopies have extendable sunshades and offer UPF 50 sun protection! As a mom who is aware of the dangerous UV sun rays, I was pleasantly surprised by this feature.

Plus, the canopies are independent and can be adjustable according to your children's needs.

For instance, if one of them likes to nap in the sunshade protection, they can do so while the other toddler enjoys the sunny day.

Both of the canopies have peek-a-boo windows, so you can always take a sneak peek and see what they are up to.

Oh, and I haven't even told you the best part! The seats can be independently reclined as well!

So if one toddler prefers napping during their walk, recline their seat and offer them the perfect snug setting.

Compromise is vital for double strollers, and I feel like UPPAbaby understands the task here!

There are even rubber footrests, so their legs don't dangle during the walk. I swear this design is dreamlike for a parent of two!

UPPAbaby G Link 2 vs. Maclaren Twin Triumph

These two models have got to be one of the most compared double strollers! My review would not be complete if I did not compare these strollers myself.

I was also in a dilemma between buying these two, so I opted for the UPPAbaby G-Link 2.

For starters, both of them have extraordinary canopies which have an extendable sunshade with a upf 50 for maximum protection.

However, Maclaren is not as easy to fold with one hand as UPPAbaby is. As this is crucial to me, I opted for an easier folded mechanism!

Also, many of my tall friends mentioned that this stroller is not in their alley of liking! They often tend to unintentionally kick the seat during their walk, which can be frustrating at times!

However, Maclaren takes a win when it comes to better maneuverability as the wheels do have a slight suspension system.

Nonetheless, both strollers are lightweight and compact for everyday use with independently adjustable recline options and great canopy designs!

What I Don't Like About UPPAbaby G-Link 2 Stroller

It would not be fair to you if I only talked about the best features of this stroller, right? But, like any other baby gear equipment, this stroller has some flaws, so let's discuss a few of them!

For starters, maneuverability will be your biggest enemy if you live in a rural area with rocky roads and unpaved sidewalks!

I already gave you some of my best alternatives for all-terrain strollers, so you might want to check those out.

Right now, I have not noticed a big difference in maneuvering the stroller and my children and getting close to the 55 lbs limit.

However, I still have a couple of more months, so we will see how it goes in the future.

Next, it does not stand when it's folded. This is not so much of a downside since I don't always fold the stroller.

Most of the time, I will store it in the guest bedroom fully assembled until it's time to take it for a walk.

And that's about it.

There are not many drawbacks to this stroller, but there are many benefits you get from it!

From the affordable price point to adjustable features each of the children can enjoy!

FAQs

Is the G-Link 2 stroller Disney approved?

Yes! One of the best qualities that the G-Link 2 stroller offers is the Disney-friendly design!

Not only did we enjoy taking it to Disney World, but I can't imagine any amusement park without it!

However, you do need to keep in on the flat surface as the wheels lack suspension.

UPPAbaby G Link 2 vs. Maclaren Twin Triumph: Who is the winner?

When it comes to deciding over these two double strollers, it all matters what your needs are!

Of course, the best choice with excellent maneuvering and a great seat design is the Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller.

But, if a narrow, lightweight design with a quick-folded mechanism is your primary concern, there is no better pick than the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 Stroller.

Both of these options are lightweight, growing-family friendly, and great for children from 3 months to 55 pounds!
